Rijksmuseum
How do you mark the reopening of the Rijksmuseum after 10 years of renovation? With an iconic image of international stature.
XSAGA produced, on behalf of the Rijksmuseum, the opening day event for both the general public and the museum’s business and relations audience.
A giant orange carpet was used to welcome Queen Beatrix, who was received by fanfares from the twelve Dutch provinces. She then performed the official opening ceremony using a golden key (designed by Studio Job). This triggered smoke fireworks by the world-renowned fireworks artist Cai Guo-Qiang, resulting in an iconic image of the spectacular opening that went around the world. The moment became so striking that it received international media coverage and was widely shared globally.
