KNRM
How do you celebrate (and commemorate) 200 years of the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM) in a way that honors all volunteers and donors while also increasing KNRM's visibility?
For four days, the Nieuwe Luxor Theater in Rotterdam was entirely dedicated to the theatrical production “Symfonie van het Water” (Symphonie of the Water). This impressive show paid spectacular tribute to 200 years of the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution and two centuries of lifesaving at sea. It was a festive conclusion to a jubilee year filled with remembrance, celebration, and joy—shared with volunteers, donors, and the rest of the Netherlands.
Five performances over four days aimed to showcase the extraordinary work of the KNRM crew, thank donors and partners for their years of support, and honor the KNRM members who gave their lives at sea.
In collaboration with creative director Gerben Bakker, XSAGA produced this unforgettable series of performances, immersing the audience in a flow of heartfelt stories and spectacular acts by artists such as Stef Bos, FLEUR, Berget Lewis, Elske DeWall, Lucas Hamming, and trumpeter Jeroen Zijlstra. All of this was accompanied by a symphony orchestra conducted by Eric van Tijn and enhanced with impressive (documentary) visuals created by XSAGA Video.
The kickoff of this extraordinary series was attended by none other than King Willem-Alexander, who holds the KNRM's work close to his heart.
