Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds
Develop and produce the programme for the presentation of the Prince Bernhard Culture Fund Prize, honouring the recipient through a cultural tribute in the presence of Queen Máxima. In 2018, the prize was awarded to conductor, pianist and composer Reinbert de Leeuw.
For XSAGA, creatively and logistically shaping this meaningful occasion had by then become an annual tradition. For this edition, however, the recipient’s fragile health meant that he could not take an active role in the programme, even though this would have been particularly fitting in his case.We therefore developed a three-part film portrait that formed the foundation of the live programme in the venue. At the same time, this created a remarkable and lasting document that could be shared across a variety of channels and would retain its value for years to come.
